A day at the zoo for Wells' birthday
Lafayette has a cute little zoo (Columbian Park). I had vague memories of going there as a child and I really hadn't been back for probably 14 years. It has changed quite a bit and is more simplistic in a classy way. There are less animals to see, but it seems to be better taken care of and they have added on a pretty awesome and large play-ground to it.
It was a very refreshing day and so wonderful to be with my sisters, mother, nieces, and nephew.
We had a lot of fun exploring all there was to see. We ended the day with snacks at the park and more play time for the kids. Wells received some wonderful birthday presents from his aunts and Mimi. :) He's a very lucky boy to have so many people that love him. Thank you for all of the love!
...Wells' birthday is actually tomorrow. Sam and I are planning to enjoy a birthday cupcake with him before we pack up and head out of town for a family reunion. :) I can't believe our baby is already one!

Contrary to the impression this photo gives, Cetty actually enjoyed the zoo a lot...just not this goat. :) |

Wells was concerned about the loud weed whacker near by. |

Watching and waiting for the otters to swim by. |

The card Jenny picked out for Wells...so appropriate for a zoo birthday party. |

Needing a nap so not as overjoyed to still be at the zoo as I thought he'd be. |

Aerial Yoga: check!
Ash and I ventured over to Wabash Landing to try out the new yoga studio (Studio Soar)! It was a great adventure. Aerial yoga did not disappoint. The sensation of swinging gently in the air, suspended by elastic fabric while stretching and healing all parts of your body was pretty cool. At first I did feel a little vulnerable getting used to the idea of relying on a sling/hammock to support me. Once I warmed up to the idea, I realized once again that exercise (especially yoga) has a beautiful way of relaxing me and getting me to surrender the stresses of life.
The studio is only a week or so old so they're in the process of trying out a variety of aerial yoga routines each week. That means that we'll probably have a completely different experience next time we go. The one we participated in was more of a recovery, which I thought was great for our first one. It made it easy to learn each pose and it focused on stretching the body more than resistance or muscle building. It was a wonderful way to start the weekend and we're planning to go back very soon.

Documenting Wells
This one is funny because I always tell Sam he's weird for being totally ok with smelling unpleasant things. I caught Wells in the act of sniffing these dirty socks...definitely a trait he inherited from his dad.
Wells carried on making this noise for minutes on end one afternoon.
We've finally made the plunge into feeding him solid food. He certainly didn't like the idea at first, but we're making progress.

Oscars Threads
Per Jenny's encouragement (http://www.petiteandgrand.blogspot.com/), I'm posting my top 5 favs of the 2014 Oscars dresses. :)
5.
4.
I like the nude/cream combo, the texture is very feminine, and gives it a fairytale look. The only detail keeping it from my most favorite was the fact that it's a little puffy right under the waist, which makes it less form flattering than some dresses. That's a big deal to me when choosing a dress.
3.
I almost picked this as my favorite because I love the way the flare at the waist compliments the body and the style is sophisticated.

This dress is breathtaking in every way. I love how dramatic the shoulders are, gathered/swooping material at the waist, color, and texture paired with silk. So nice and decidedly my favorite.
5.
This dress is classy and sleek. I'm always drawn to an alluring black dress. My only criticism is the straps changing to nude towards her shoulders.

I like the soft material of this one paired with slight skin visible at the chest. Also, I pretty consistently like dresses that have an accentuating band at the waist so this one convinced me.

8/9 Months and growing...
Wells just hit 9 months this week! He has yet to crawl, but does assume the crawling position often so we're hopeful. He manages to move about the room with scooting and rolling, and has become quite proficient in his Johnny Jump-up. Not that babies should ever be compared to one-another, but Bry & Ash's little Cetty started crawling very early so we've been subtly suggesting to Wells that he should get with the the program. :) He clearly hasn't taken our suggestions very seriously!
He seems to be teething (he has been unusually grumpy with more drooling the last few days), which will be the production of his third tooth. He is pretty talkative and expressive, always providing engaging eye-contact. We hope this is a sign of a good communicator in the future? :)

Not a terribly flattering angle for Wells, but I couldn't help posting it. :) |
